About Our Junior Golf
Dear Parents and Junior Golfers,
Welcome to the 2017 Tyrone Hills Junior Golf Program! This is the 40th year of our Junior Golf Program. It is one of the longest running, largest, and most successful junior programs in the state. We are happy to have YOU as a part of Junior Golf!
Our program is welcome to ALL kids, whether they are experienced in the game or whether they have never played golf before. Our program is built on learning the game properly. Tyrone Hills Junior Golf has been the introduction to the game of golf for thousands of area youngsters over the years.
The league itself will begin on Thursday, June 29th. In addition to the league we have included a clinic schedule you will find here. There will be three days of clinics with a morning and evening clinic each day. During the clinics our golfers will receive professional instruction on the fundamentals of both the short game and the full swing. All those who participate will be able to hit balls also. Juniors are welcome to participate in as many of the six separate clinics as they wish.
This year we will be introducing what we think will be a fun change to our playing format on Thursdays. Each junior golfer will be able to choose their own four-person teams. The golf staff will place any juniors without full four-person teams into a team. The four-person teams will be playing each week in a scramble format. Once the team is on the green however each junior will putt out to the hole individually. The putting will be part of what our scoring will be based on. Combined with the putting we will also have driving and chipping competitions each week. We are basing this on the National Drive, Chip and Putt competition that you may have seen on the golf channel. It is a very successful competition that the juniors seem to really enjoy. More details on the competition can be found on our website, tyronehillsgolf.com.
The new team format applies to all age divisions. There are three divisions in the Junior Golf Program: The 3-Hole Division is for juniors age 7-9, the 6-Hole Division is for juniors age 10-12, and the 9-Hole Division for junior golfers 13 and older.
